Distinguished Mathematicians Honored at Mathematical Waves Conference
On January 29th, 2025, Rita Jimenez Rolland, Alfredo Najera Chavez, Maria Aparecida Soares Ruas, and Marcelo Viana da Silva received prestigious awards for their contributions to mathematics at the Mathematical Waves conference, held at the Lakeside Village Auditorium at the University of Miami. The event highlighted their groundbreaking research in dynamical systems, algebraic geometry, and more, celebrating the continuing importance of collaboration in the global mathematical community.


SBM President Attends Lunch in Honor of Italian President
Jaqueline Godoy Mesquita attended a luncheon on July 15, 2024, at the Itamaraty Palace, honoring Italian President Sergio Mattarella and celebrating her contributions to Brazil-Italy relations in mathematical sciences. The event also marked 150 years of Italian immigration to Brazil, with several notable figures in attendance.


IMSA at ICMAT: New Mathematical Collaboration Program between Spain and Latin America presented
The launch of the program took place on April 24, with a presentation event held at the ICMAT that featured interventions by José María Martell, vice president of Scientific and Technical Research of the CSIC; Javier Aramayona, director of ICMAT; Ludmil Katzarkov, director of IMSA (University of Miami); and Yuri Tschinkel, director of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the Simons Foundation.
