Date: July 15, 2024 Jaqueline Godoy Mesquita participated in a luncheon on July 15, 2024, in honor of the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, at the Itamaraty Palace. The invitation to the event was extended by the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the First Lady, Janja Lula da Silva, in recognition of Jaqueline's exceptional contributions to promoting bilateral relations with Italy in the field of mathematical sciences.

In 2023, Jaqueline Godoy Mesquita was honored as a Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy by the Italian government and received the “Science, She Says!” award from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Sergio Mattarella's visit to Brazil coincides with the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of Italian immigration to the country, underscoring the event's significance in strengthening historical and cultural ties between the two nations.
The luncheon was attended by numerous authorities and distinguished personalities, including the Vice-President of Brazil, Geraldo Alckmin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Luciana Santos, as well as the renowned photographer Sebastião Salgado and the daughter of the President of Italy, Laura Mattarella.
